Thames Tideway Tunnel Construction Project Moves Forward
Construction of the £4.2bn Thames Tideway Tunnel has moved a positive step forward as three major contracts are signed. The east works package deal has gone to the Costain/Vinci Construction Grands Projets and Bachy Soletanche JV and is said to be worth £605m.Work is due to start immediately, with completion date set for 2023.
Royal London Asset Management Awards Kier Construction £34.5m Contract
Kier Construction has won a £34.5m contract with Royal London Asset Management for improvement works on a mixed-use building in central London.
The project involves infill work as well as the construction of three additional floors for 14 new high-end residential units at the Parnell House redevelopment site in Victoria.
First Regeneration Plans Submitted By Private Equity-Backed Developer
Lewisham Borough Council has received plans from development company, Anthology, in a proposal to redevelop a disused trading estate in Deptford, south London.
The estate stands on 1.2 ha of brownfield land on the site of the former estate and adjoining Network Rail-owned land.
Palace Of Westminster Restoration Contracts To Be Awarded Next Summer
The first restoration contracts for the refurbishment of the Palace of Westminster, a series of contracts which could be worth up to £7bn, will be awarded next summer. A prequalification questionnaire, issued by the corporate offices of the House of Commons and House of Lords has been issued to interested parties for the procurement for advisory services contracts.
£59m Old Bailey Office Refurbishment Contract In London Goes To ISG
ISG Developments has secured a £59m refurbishment contract in central London with private investment company Blackstone to restore an office at 20 Old Bailey.
This is will add to ISG’s string of contract wins with the client, which include the £30m refurbishment of the Adelphi Building on Victoria Embankment.
Updated Thames Garden Bridge Plans Submitted
The group behind the Thomas Heatherwick-designed Garden Bridge over the Thames claim that the impact of constructing the project has been greatly reduced after submitting updated plans for the £175m project.
According to the Garden Bridge Trust, the improved plans, which follow pre-construction work by preferred bidder Bouygues Travaux Publics and Cimolai, is expected to result in a 35% reduction in the number of road journeys required for construction.
Five Shortlisted For Enfield Council £2bn Meridian Water Development
Enfield Council has shortlisted Berkeley Homes, Barrett & Segro, Peabody, and joint bids from Taylor Wimpey & Dorchester and PCPD & Wilmott Dixon for its £2bn, 85-hectare, Meridian Water Development near Lee Valley Regional Park.
The successful developer is expected to be named early next year and will build 8,000 new homes including a full range of neighbourhood facilities.
£23m Hampshire Leisure Centre Contract For Willmott Dixon
Willmott Dixon will develop the new Hart Leisure Centre in Fleet as part of Scape Group’s major works framework, after planning permission was granted to build the new £23m complex.
The centre will include state-of-the-art facilities including three swimming pools, a 120-station gym and multiple sports pitches.
