GAA Award Success for one of our staff!
A massive congratulations to our Electrical Estimator Paul Devlin on being named in the AIB GAA club team of the year for his efforts with Kilcoo this year as they were crowned Ulster club champions and were beaten finalist in the All-Irealand club championship final. Paul was joined on the team by team mates, Aaron Branagan, Darryl Brannagan & Conor Laverty.
The awards were presented at a special banquet at Croke Park on Friday 6th March 2020. In addition to the football and hurling teams being honoured, there was also awards announced live on the night for the overall AIB GAA Club Footballer and Hurler of the Year.

Bristol’s Filton Airfield Arena project gets green light
Malaysian investment firm YTL Developments has got the go-ahead to develop a 17,000-capacity arena at Bristol’s Filton Airfield.
The arena, which would make use of existing hangar buildings, would rank as the third biggest venue in the UK.
YTL Arena Bristol is timetabled to open in 2023 and has been designed by architect Grimshaw, in partnership with Manica Architecture.
The arena will now form a centrepiece of the wider Brabazon regeneration plan, which also includes 2,675 homes, three schools, a health centre, parks, a lake and 62 acres of employment space.
Because of the scale of the scheme, the Government will need to give final approval.
The arena at the vast Filton Airfield regeneration scheme was first proposed as a cheaper alternative to the city centre scheme at Temple Meads, which failed to advance because of cost overruns.

Laing O’Rourke gets £1.3bn Olympia revamp start date
Laing O’Rourke is expected to be confirmed imminently as main contractor for the £1.3bn redevelopment of London’s Olympia Exhibition Centre.
Today owners Deutsche Finance International and Yoo Capital confirmed an £875m financing deal with Goldman Sachs had been signed off allowing the landmark project to move to construction before the spring.
The Enquirer reported last year that Laing O’Rourke had snatched the prized project from under the noses of Mace who were originally hot favourites.
Work will include revamping the existing exhibition halls and adding 51,000m² of office, studio and co-working space across its site.
Designed by Heatherwick Studio and SPPARC architects, the new centre will also house a four-screen arthouse cinema, a 1,000-seat performing arts space, a 1,500-seat theatre, 900m² of performance and rehearsal space, a new jazz club-style restaurant and venue, shops, cafés, hotels and new public space, including pedestrianised squares and a sky garden.

Plans in for £40m Manchester spec office scheme
Plans have been lodged for a £40m scheme to build a
Edinburgh-based property developer Kames Capital has lined up contractor PP O’Connor to demolish the Speakers House building at the 39 Deansgate site to make way for the new 17-storey offices.
Designed by architect Sheppard Robson, the building will provide 130,000 sq ft of ‘Grade A’ office space and 5,000 sq ft of retail space at ground floor.

The scheme is the first development within Manchester City Council’s Ramada Complex Strategic Regeneration Framework.

Moda’s £260m Hove build to rent scheme approved
Private rental specialist Moda Living has got the planning go-ahead for a major private rental scheme in Hove, Sussex.
Its plans will transform the rundown Sackville Trading Estate next to Hove Station into a thriving inter-generational neighbourhood with extensive public gardens.
Of the total new homes in the £260m scheme, 564 will be for private rent and 260 for later living.
Moda said it would begin developing the site in 2021.
The firm has also committed to invest £10m in infrastructure, education and public art – one of the largest planning contributions to public amenity by a private company in Brighton & Hove in a decade.
The proposals also include communal lounges with events and wellbeing workshops, private dining areas, restaurants, shops and a village hall.
There will also be 50,000 sq ft of office and co-working space to foster emerging businesses/SMEs, five communal roof terraces and several open spaces.
James Blakey, Planning Director, Moda Living, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Brighton and Hove have put their faith in our exciting vision for the regeneration of the Sackville Estate.
“The decision enables us, together with our partners, to revitalise a long-dormant brownfield site with new homes and employment opportunities, while also investing £10m into the local community”
Moda, along with funding partner Apache Capital Partners, now has £850m of live schemes under construction across the UK – the first phase of its £2.5bn pipeline of over 7,500 rent-only homes.
